Pigment alterations qualifying for light treatment (Cutera XEO LimeLight):
- melasma,
- sun-related discolorations,
- post-inflammatory discolorations,
- pigment alterations (freckles),
- Becker’s nevus.
The mechanism of discoloration removal
In the case of pigment alterations light is absorbed by melanin, the dark pigment giving the skin, hair and irises their natural color, and which may occur in excess in certain places. In the case of tattoos, light is absorbed by the pigment that had been injected into the skin. The energy of the light beam is transformed into heat, raising the temperature of pigment cells and destroying them.
